Unique Applause
Unique Applause is a Toronto-based artist management, label services and music production company founded by singer Tanika Charles and artist manager Michael Warren in 2019. Beginning as the operating base and domestic label for Tanika’s work, in 2023 it expanded to provide management and consulting services to other artists.
Michael Warren
Michael Warren is an artist manager based in Toronto. Since 2015 he has worked alongside Soul/R&B singer Tanika Charles helping deliver the albums Soul Run, The Gumption, and Papillon de Nuit: The Night Butterfly (garnering multiple Juno nominations and Polaris Music Prize listings). For Tanika he has planned and managed multiple domestic and international tours, bringing her live show to over 150 cities and towns across 12 countries.
In 2019 Tanika and Michael founded Unique Applause Inc. In 2023 Michael added 6x Juno-nominated Reggae singer Ammoye and Disco-Funk/Yacht Rock artist Maya Killtron to his management roster.
Michael was mentored by London/Kenya-based manager Tania Campbell Golding of Gatwitch Records, home to South Sudanese musician Emmanuel Jal. From 2016-2017 Michael was employed as Gatwitch Records label manager before pivoting to full-time artist management. Michael is also a former contributing writer for Exclaim! Magazine.
Michael is a member of Music Managers Forum Canada, the Canadian Independent Music Association, and MusicOntario.
